SUMMARY: Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of campus facilities during regular operating hours. This role supports the daily functioning of the college by ensuring that high-traffic areas remain clean, organized, and welcoming for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Day Porter serves as a visible and responsive member of the facilities team, addressing immediate needs and contributing to a positive campus experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES: Includes, but not limited to, the following.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
REASONING: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions, and to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This role requires regular walking, occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds, and the ability to perform tasks such as standing, reaching, bending, and kneeling. Visual acuity and clear communication are also essential.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee involves in both indoor and outdoor settings across the campus. The role requires frequent movement between buildings and facilities throughout the day, often in response to cleaning needs or support tasks. Day Porters are regularly exposed to cleaning chemicals and equipment as part of their routine duties.
Shift Time: 4pm to 10pm Monday-Friday
