The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing janitorial operations while actively participating in cleaning tasks. This role ensures that all cleaning, conduct, training, and safety standards are met. The Supervisor will assign schedules, inspect work, train and counsel staff, and maintain consistent communication with both site management and frontline staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision and support for janitorial staff; ensure all assignments are completed thoroughly and on schedule.
• Act as a working member of the cleaning team, able to step in and perform all duties of a General Cleaner, including corrugate handling, as needed.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with union staff, site management, and team members through multiple channels.
• Perform daily site inspections; identify and correct issues, assign tasks, and ensure the site is always inspection-ready.
• Monitor, maintain, and ensure proper use of all equipment, radios, and supplies.
• Operate a forklift (training will be provided).
• Educate, train, and counsel staff as required to ensure adherence to company standards.
• Ensure all daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules are followed and documented accurately.
• Collaborate with site management on staffing needs, concerns, and operational requirements.
• Work additional hours during peak times as needed.

Qualifications

• Required:
• • Strong knowledge of janitorial cleaning procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to lead by example and assist staff with hands-on work.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to safety standards and site readiness.
• Preferred:
• • Bilingual (English/Spanish or other language).
  • Experience supervising unionized staff.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory janitorial role.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical cleaning tasks for extended periods. Able to pull/lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to operate janitorial equipment and forklift (training provided).
