We are seeking an experienced Area Manager. The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing janitorial/night maintenance operations. This role involves managing cleaning vendors, ensuring high-quality service delivery, fostering client relationships, and addressing operational challenges.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with experience in facility services, or Janitorial, who can drive accountability, efficiency, and service excellence across all sites. This position requires consistent travel across sites, flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned grocery store clients within designated territories.
- Conduct routine site visits and walk-throughs to evaluate overall cleanliness, vendor performance, and compliance with scope of work.
- Meet regularly with store leadership (Store Managers, District Managers, Facilities Managers) to assess satisfaction and address concerns.
- Proactively identify service gaps and implement corrective action plans in partnership with vendors.
- Ensure client retention through responsiveness, transparency, and consistent follow-through.
2. Vendor Oversight & Performance Management
- Oversee third-party cleaning vendors performing services.
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled audits of stores to evaluate quality, safety, and adherence to contract standards.
- Provide vendors with detailed audit reports, including scoring, deficiencies, required corrections, and timelines for improvement.
- Hold vendors accountable to KPIs including cleanliness standards, labor allocation, safety compliance, and completion of scope.
- Escalate chronic performance issues and partner with leadership on vendor replacement decisions if necessary.
3. Operational Excellence & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all locations meet established cleanliness standards and brand expectations.
- Identify trends across locations and implement process improvements to drive consistency and efficiency.
- Partner with vendors to develop action plans for stores scoring below target thresholds.
- Support new store openings, transitions, or vendor onboarding within the territories.
- Work with Procurement to manage equipment usage, and cost controls.
- Ensure services are delivered efficiently without compromising cleanliness or client satisfaction.
- Manage a multi-store territory requiring frequent travel to conduct in-person audits and client meetings.
- Prioritize site visits based on performance trends, escalations, and business needs.
- Maintain flexibility to respond to urgent operational issues.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required (unless otherwise noted):
- Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in janitorial or facility services
- Minimum of 2 years in a management position
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Minimal computer skills
- Basic mathematics skills
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal/internal communication and customer service skills.
