Position Summary:
The Overnight Janitorial Floor Tech Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all overnight floor care operations at a shopping center or commercial facility. This role supervises a team of floor technicians, coordinates daily floor maintenance schedules, ensures adherence to safety and quality standards, and provides hands-on support with floor care tasks. The supervisor is also responsible for equipment oversight, reporting, and ensuring floors are safe, clean, and presentable for daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead the overnight floor care team to complete scheduled work efficiently and to standard
- Assign daily floor care duties such as scrubbing, buffing, stripping, waxing, and carpet extraction
- Inspect floors throughout the facility to ensure quality results and identify areas needing attention
- Operate floor care equipment such as auto scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, carpet extractors, and wet vacs
- Provide hands-on assistance with floor care tasks, especially in high-traffic or problem areas
- Ensure safe and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment by all team members
- Train new and existing staff on correct floor care techniques and safety procedures
- Maintain supply inventory and coordinate with management for reorders
- Report any maintenance concerns, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards to management
- Document nightly activities, incidents, equipment usage, and completion of scheduled tasks
- Ensure all floors are dry, safe, and ready before mall or facility opens to the public
- Enforce safety rules, PPE use, and company policies among the floor tech team
- Serve as the overnight point of contact for floor-related emergencies or escalations
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of floor care experience in commercial/janitorial settings
- 1+ years of supervisory or team lead experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of floor care techniques and equipment (hard surfaces & carpets)
- Ability to supervise and motivate a team in a fast-paced, overnight environment
- Solid understanding of chemical safety and OSHA standards
- Excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor for extended periods
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
