Day Porter / Custodian | Southfield

Monday - Friday | 10:00 AM - 2:000 PM

$16 - $17 per hour

We are seeking a dependable and professional Day Porter / Custodian to support daily building operations at a professional office complex in the Southfield area near the Northwestern Highway and Franklin Road corridor.

This position works during daytime business hours while the building is occupied. The Day Porter / Custodian will help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for office staff, tenants, visitors, and guests. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, comfortable interacting with building occupants, and able to support both cleaning needs and routine building upkeep throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and overall appearance throughout common areas, entrances, hallways, and shared spaces
• Respond to routine cleaning needs during business hours
• Remove trash and maintain building appearance throughout the shift
• Restock facility supplies as needed
• Perform routine building upkeep and minor maintenance support as assigned
• Communicate professionally with office staff, tenants, visitors, and guests
• Report facility concerns, supply needs, or maintenance issues to management
• Follow cleaning procedures, safety guidelines, and building expectations
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and professional office environment

Requirements

• Previous custodial or janitorial experience required
• Comfortable working directly with office staff, tenants, visitors, and guests
• Professional appearance and strong communication skills
• Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic
• Ability to work independently and stay organized throughout the shift
• Ability to respond to cleaning needs in an occupied office environment
• Willingness to perform routine building upkeep and minor maintenance tasks as assigned
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move throughout the shift
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
