Job Summary: Performs basic custodial services. Work involves coordinating the cleaning and sanitation of federal and state buildings. May train others. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Background clearance required.
Essential Duties and Responsible:
- Coordinates and performs general custodial functions such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning windows, light fixtures, carpet and tile floors
- Restroom maintenance, replenishing supplies and applying cleaning chemicals as appropriate
- Performs minor maintenance and repair work on custodial equipment
- Cleans, dust, and inspects areas such as restrooms, offices, and other facilities as needed
- Operates floor maintenance equipment, including buffers, strippers, upright and backpack vacuums
- Inspects buildings for cleanliness, completed work, and needed repairs
- Maintains inventory records of building property, custodial equipment, materials, supplies, and equipment
- Performs related as assigned
Education/Experience:
- Graduation from a standard High School or equivalent is generally preferred. At least one year experience in custodial work.
Communication Skills:
- Bilingual (English) preferred and Spanish but not necessary.
