Job Skills / Requirements

We are looking for a well rounded General Maintenance Technician with trouble shooting experience to maintain a federal educational and training facility where readiness is paramount. You will perform maintenance tasks of great variety such as general construction, light plumbing, HVAC maintenance, electrical, carpentry, equipment repair and escort duties.  We are looking for a jack of all trades master of none, any certifications are a plus, but not necessary. The duties require a professional with a practical mind and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously and responsibly by observing all health and safety guidelines. The goal is to maintain the facility fit and ready to execute its training mission.

Essential Functions:

Function well with government and vendor contractors:

  • Survey buildings and report mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards and sub-contractor agreement for services.
  • Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, doors, replace windows, door and window replacement, washer/dryers etc.)
  • Knowledge of the difference between hollow core doors and fire rated doors along with light construction
  • Perform maintenance on deenergized electrical systems (replace light bulbs, switches and plug faces etc.)
  • Assist in the setup of ventilation, refrigeration and other systems and conduct repairs when necessary.
  • Capture asset serial numbers and models for database tracking
  • Conduct general upkeep procedures (e.g. inventory control and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry, landscaping etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned, ie. Escort vendors.

Technical Skills:

  • Carpentry experience is a must (floating walls, hanging sheetrock, painting, spackling, and other wall filling techniques)
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems
  • Being able to read and understand manufacture manuals
  • Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices
  • Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
  • Good physical condition and strength (will be standing on feet for long periods of time, understanding proper PPE wear and use
  • Building maintenance technology or relevant field will be a plus but not necessary

Education/Experience: Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

Work Location: Pineville, LA

Compensation:

Federal Contractor Wage Determination -

  • $17.37 per hour – Hourly Rate
  • $4.41 per hour - Health and Wellness Hourly Pay
  • $21.78 per hour - Total Per Hour Pay

Schedule Work Hours:  Business services hours of 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Weekends off unless requested by customer.

Conditions of Employment: Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, Federal Criminal history background check and E-Verify social security number check.

Travel Requirements:  This is a campus facility with remote sites requiring commuting within a 10 mile radius.   The government has authorized the use of vehicles.

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Three to Five Years of Experience
Vocational/Technical Training or State/Federal/Industry Recognized Certification
