Lead Groundskeeper – $19.00 An Hour “Without” Pesticide Certificate / $20.50 An Hour “With” Pesticide Certificate
Under general direction, to serve as a lead groundskeeper and participate in the performance of grounds maintenance and gardening work around work sites, and all elementary schools; and to do related work as required.
Ensures the proper care, cleaning, repair, and replacement of equipment.
Ensures compliance with code requirements, adheres to all safety polices and procedures, supports groundskeeping best practices and reports any malfunction/defects to supervisor immediately
Trains, guides and fields questions from newer staff on job duties, safety procedures, etc.
The Groundskeeping Lead is responsible for maintaining and improving site grounds. Assigned work such as mowing, trimming, leaf removal and duties related to inclement weather, such as snow removal, which may fluctuate by season. The Groundskeeping Lead maybe responsible for oversite or delegation of responsibilities within the groundskeeping operation.
Performs task such as planting, mowing, weeding, weed control by pesticide spraying, fertilizing, sweeping, raking, salting, shoveling snow, removing ice, etc.
Supervises other groundskeepers
Must be able to operate
Maintains groundskeeping equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
Keeps records of supplies and equipment
Proficiently use various gardening and grounds maintenance tools and power equipment safely drive and operate trucks and large power equipment efficiently and safely.
Must Follow General safety procedures and practices.
Possession of a certificate for the application of restricted use pesticides or must be able to obtain a certificate with in the first 6 months of employment.
Transports various items (e.g. equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of providing materials at job site as required to complete tasks.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 25% sitting, 50% walking, and 25% standing. The job is performed under with some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions .
