Day Porter / Cleaner (Full-Time)Compensation & Schedule

  • Pay Rate: $19.50 per hour
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM; Saturday, 7:00 AM – 9:30 AM

Job SummaryThe Day Porter / Cleaner is responsible for performing general cleaning and light maintenance tasks to ensure the property maintains a clean, orderly, safe, and professional appearance during business hours. This role requires the use of necessary cleaning materials and supplies.Key ResponsibilitiesRoutine Cleaning and Upkeep

  • Sweep and spot mop entryway and first-floor hallways.
  • Spot sweep stairwells, hallways, and common areas throughout the day.
  • Dust mop or vacuum all flooring surfaces, including hard surfaces and walk-off mats.
  • Wet mop all hard surface flooring as needed, sometimes multiple times per week.
  • Wipe clean and sanitize high-touch point items, including tabletops, countertops, sinks, water fountains, and light switches, with disinfectant solution.
  • Spot clean and sanitize desk tops, avoiding paper and materials.
  • Wipe down walls and ledges throughout the building, including erasing pencil marks.
  • Remove marks from floors.
  • Spot clean carpets, scrubbing out any dark spots.
  • Clean windows, including foyers, reception areas, main office, and classroom/office door windows.

Restroom and Supply Management

  • Clean and restock lavatories throughout the day.
  • Spot clean all bathrooms, including wiping down toilet seats and sinks, and sweeping/spot mopping floors.
  • Check and restock dispensers for hand sanitizer, hand soap, paper towel, and toilet paper.
  • Clean and disinfect sinks in staff lounges, staff kitchens, and medical rooms.

Waste and Recycling Management

  • Empty all trashcans and waste receptacles, replacing liners (contractor to supply liners).
  • Wipe down the exterior and top of all waste receptacles.
  • Organize and place garbage/recycling at the street on appropriate days; keep the designated garbage area organized and clean.
  • Ensure all recycling is properly separated from regular garbage and placed in separate bags.
  • Wipe down and clean all trash can bins and lids as needed to maintain sanitary conditions.
  • Remove cigarette butts and trash from urns and planters.
  • Report any overflow of dumpsters or tenant trash to the Property Manager.

Exterior and Site Maintenance

  • Perform machine sweep or blow/vacuum of all storefronts, building sidewalks, curb lines, and street sidewalks to remove all debris, trash, and cobwebs.
  • Sweep sidewalks and clear them of garbage.
  • Hand-pick trash and debris from all remote and perimeter areas, including fence lines, guard rails, mulch beds, and planters.
  • Clear all storm drains and building down spouts of trash, leaves, cigarette butts, and other debris.
  • Roll out entry rugs during wet weather conditions (rain, snow) and put them away during dry weather.
  • Blow out and vacuum all areas around the rear of the building, dumpsters, and transformers.
  • Remove all flyers, stickers, and unauthorized postings from columns, walls, light poles, and signs.

General Maintenance and Reporting

  • Respond to spills and cleaning-related emergencies.
  • Notify the Property Manager immediately of any safety hazards, life safety issues, emergencies, or other conditions that represent a danger to guests or employees.
  • Perform light handyman work (e.g., changing light bulbs, exterior maintenance).
  • Assist with miscellaneous requests and tasks, such as moving and assembling furniture.
  • At least weekly, check vacancy thermostats, flush toilets, run faucets, check lights, and monthly, blow/sweep spaces out and clean Landlord utility rooms.
