Trash Technician

The Trash and Grounds Technician is responsible for the collection, transportation, and disposal of waste from residence halls, campus buildings, and outdoor receptacles. This position helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming campus environment by ensuring timely waste removal and addressing litter throughout the campus grounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect and remove trash from residence halls, dormitory buildings, and designated campus facilities.
  • Service and empty outdoor trash receptacles and waste collection stations.
  • Transport collected waste and operate approved equipment to dispose of trash into designated compactors.
  • Maintain cleanliness around dumpsters, compactors, and waste storage areas.
  • Monitor waste collection areas and report damaged receptacles, safety concerns, or maintenance issues.
  • Assist with special cleanup projects and campus-wide waste management initiatives as assigned.
  • Follow all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies related to waste handling and equipment operation.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of safe waste-handling practices preferred.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and professional campus environment.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Requires frequent lifting, bending, walking, and operation of waste collection equipment.

Job Goal: To support a clean, safe, and attractive campus by providing efficient waste collection, disposal, and grounds-cleaning services throughout residence halls and campus properties.
